The Opportunity

Reporting to the Team Leader, EMAT ILI Review team in the Pipe Integrity Corrosion and Crack Threat Management Department, the person in this position is an Engineer/Technologist supporting a variety of pipeline integrity activities and projects involving the company's existing natural gas pipeline systems in Canada and across the U.S. The Pipeline Integrity Engineer/Technologist assists with pipeline integrity program planning, pipeline failure investigation, excavation programs, procedures development, performs analysis, participates in studies and develops engineering standards and procedures related to pipeline integrity projects.

What you’ll do
  • Review, analyze, and conduct pipeline defect analysis utilizing direct assessment, in-line inspection, pressure test, and other assessment data to propose remedial or follow up actions
  • Perform advanced quantitative risk analysis (likelihood of failure, consequence modeling, corrosion growth, etc.)
  • Perform Engineering Assessments to determine the continued safe operation of the pipeline
  • Develop and support excavation programs
  • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders as required
  • Interact with regulatory agencies and provide audit support as required
  • Assist internal response to pipeline failures and root cause investigations
  • Support project development, planning, and budget programs
  • Assist the team in tracking and completion of work related to the expedited ECA program
  • Other tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology diploma from an accredited institution
  • For degreed engineers: must be registered, or eligible to register, with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing
  • Minimum 4 years of related industry engineering experience, preferably in design, operation, and construction of high-pressure natural gas or liquid transmission pipelines
  • Knowledge of pipeline integrity management and in-line inspection tools (MFL and/or EMAT)
  • Familiarity with Canadian Energy Regulator Act (CERA), Onshore Pipeline Regulations (OPR), and CSA Z662
  • Knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192, API 1163, 1173, 1176 standards
  • Experience with data handling/analysis and administrative automation

  • Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills essential for coordinating with diverse, cross-functional teams including Field Operations, Field Specialists, Reliability Engineers, Business Development, Planning, Project Management, Drafting, Supply Chain, Communications, IT, and Gas Control
  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate with external partners including vendors, surveyors, third-party engineering firms, and installation contractors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present technical information to various audiences
  • Strong team player with demonstrated collaborative working relationships across all organizational levels
Technical & Analytical Skills
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical data and provide actionable recommendations
  • Experience with risk assessment and decision-making in technical environments
Technical Proficiency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with engineering software applications and data analysis tools preferred
  • Familiarity with project management software and document management systems an asset

Requirements
  • This position requires candidates to:
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
