Job summary

A construction workforce provider is seeking a Pipefitter Journeyperson for a project at Suncor Fort Hills near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This temporary position starts on January 8, 2026 and entails working a 7 on, 7 off schedule, performing essential maintenance tasks. Qualifications

  • Must hold a Steamfitting/Pipefitting Journeyperson ticket.
  • Have all necessary safety certifications from Energy Safety Canada.
  • Completed a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test successfully.

Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, thread, groove and bend pipes, valves and fittings.
  • Assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair pressurized piping systems.
  • Hydrotest and install fabricated pipe spools.
  • Check for system leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors.
  • Maintain tools, work area, and equipment orderly.
  • Interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Update drawings to an as-built condition.
  • Follow Client policies, including ISO 9001-2000 standards.

Jardeg is recruiting a Pipefitter Journeyperson to join the Heartland Constructors Inc. maintenance team at Suncor Fort Hills near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a temporary position starting January 08th, 2026 until March 11th, 2026; 7 on and 7 off, alternating days and nights shifts, 12 hours per day, end date will be May 31st, 2025.

Steamfitter – pipefitters lay out, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes. Pipefitters also remove and replace worn components, do general maintenance work and may work on plant shutdowns.

Pipefitter Journeyperson Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of functional operation of various piping system components by measuring, cutting, threading, grooving and bending of pipes, valves and fittings.
  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair pressurized piping systems.
  • Hydrotest and install fabricated pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies, adding designed supports as required.
  • Use testing equipment effectively to check for system leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors.
  • Maintain all tools, work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Read and interpret client and company supplied construction fabrication drawings and specifications.
  • Red-line update drawings to an as-built condition.
  • Follow various Client policies & procedures including adherence to requirements of ISO 9001-2000.
