Job summary

A healthcare provider in Ontario is looking for a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client in Prescott. The assistant will work under the supervision of a Physiotherapist, assisting with exercises, documenting progress, and ensuring residents meet their treatment goals. Qualifications include being a PTA graduate, communication skills, and experience in Long Term Care. The role requires working 37.5 hours a week, with specific health checks and a vehicle access requirement. Only qualified applicants will be contacted.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a Long Term Care or Retirement home is required.
  • Current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
  • Valid 2 STEP TB Test and/or Chest X-ray is required.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and valid drivers license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with conducting group exercises for residents.
  • Encourage residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs.
  • Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session.
  • Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
  • Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist.
  • Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client in Prescott, Ontario. Working under the direct or indirect supervision of the Physiotherapist, our assistants will work in close contact with residents to help them implement treatment programs and achieve the goals set out for them.

Schedule
  • 37.5 hours per week (Temporary Coverage: December 24th 2025 - January 2nd 2026).
Job Duties
  • Assist with conducting group exercises for residents, and/or lead one-on-one exercises with the assigned resident as directed by the Physiotherapist.
  • Encourage residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs if appropriate.
  • Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session per the Physiotherapist’s instructions.
  • Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
  • Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
  • Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack, ultrasound therapy, TENS (electrotherapy), hot wax, etc.
Qualifications
  • Must be a Physiotherapy Assistant graduate or equivalent.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate well with the elderly, supervisors, and teammates.
  • Experience working in a Long Term Care or Retirement home is required.
  • Current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
  • Valid 2 STEP TB Test and/or Chest X-ray is required.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and valid drivers license is required (This position is not accessible by bus).
  • We will NOT consider RELOCATION - Must be a resident of Prescott and/or the Surrounding Area.
