About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients in an acute care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. Physiotherapy assessment involves obtaining a detailed medical history, performing specific and standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical and hydrotherapy techniques to assist the patient in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function. The Physiotherapist educates and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers with regard to health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and patient management. The Physiotherapist provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides. As a member of a clinical team, the Physiotherapist collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participates in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solves problems and shares responsibilities. Physiotherapists work on weekends in many areas of the hospital.

About You
  • Master's degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Physiotherapy (Provincial licensing body)
  • Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, Outlook)
  • Annual Cardio‑pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • Annual Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System training and certification (WHMIS)
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
  • Full Time Long Assignment; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Approximately 12 month term; Dates are subject to change
Compensation And Benefits

38.43 - 50.99Hourly
