Physician Assistant

Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine PC (GLO) is a multi-specialty group with three locations in St. John, Crown Point and Lowell, Indiana. Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine PC offers patients compassion, innovation and quality care throughout Northwest Indiana and beyond. Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine PC is seeking a full-time Orthopedic Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. You will work independently with physician oversight along with an outstanding, experienced support staff.

In this role you will build meaningful relationships with patients, their family members, healthcare providers, and office staff while providing high quality direct patient care in a clinic setting. You will assess and provide treatment to patients of various age groups, diagnose conditions, create treatment plans and prescribe medications as related to the treatment plan. You will collaborate with a physician to achieve the best health outcomes for the patient. You will enjoy opportunities for career growth and continuing education opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Formulate a diagnosis from assessments conducted within the clinic setting.
  • Examine and diagnose patients and develop treatment plans.
  • Document treatment plans in the EMR.
  • Collaborate with physician and document physician guidance as needed.
  • Coordinate care for patients.
  • Perform inpatient and outpatient consults as needed.
  • Assist Orthopedic Surgeon in surgery.
  • Provide comprehensive and continuing medical care for patients.

Initiate requests for laboratory tests and x-rays as appropriate. Prepare and document appropriate history, physical examinations and diagnosis. Initiate requests for tests and imaging as appropriate. Prescribe medications as appropriate.

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Physician Assistant license from Indiana.
  • Basic Life Support certified by American Heart Association.
  • 2 years relevant clinical experience preferred; will consider recent graduates.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, primary care team members and management staff.
  • Ability to make care decisions based on best medical practices without direct supervision or guidance by a physician.
  • Basic technical proficiency in the use of computer programs for medical records or internet search for clinical practice.
  • Advanced assessment and treatment plan implementation skills.
  • Ability to complete clinical care lifting in a provider office environment.
