Position:
  • Department: Health Services
  • Locations: Various FNHA Operational Sites and BC Health Authorities (Across British Columbia)
  • Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time / Casual (Temporary Staffing)
Job Purpose:

The Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in supporting safe and efficient pharmaceutical care. Working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will dispense medications, manage inventory, and provide accurate guidance to patients. In certain settings, your role may also include primary care consultations and patient education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately prepare, dispense, and distribute medications under pharmacist supervision
  • Provide clear guidance on proper medication use and storage to patients
  • Assist in primary care consultations in community settings (where applicable)
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure patient safety in all medication handling

Inventory & Operational Support:

  • Monitor and manage drug inventories, including ordering and restocking
  • Track expiry dates and ensure safe disposal of outdated pharmaceuticals
  • Maintain clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy workspaces
  • Support record-keeping and administrative tasks per regulatory standards

Work Settings:

  • Provide services at FNHA-operated healthcare facilities such as:
    • Nursing Stations
    • Health Centres
    • Community Clinics and Satellite Sites
  • May also be placed within BC Health Authorities, including:
    • Interior Health
    • Fraser Health
    • Vancouver Coastal Health
    • Island Health
    • Northern Health
    • Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA)
Geographic Coverage:

Positions are available across all FNHA operational sites and BC Health Authorities, spanning urban to remote communities.

Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician in British Columbia
  • Two professional references
  • Up-to-date immunization records

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Knowledge of drug names, classifications, and proper usage
  • Excellent communication and patient service skills
  • Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity, especially in Indigenous health settings
Working Conditions:
  • May require travel to rural and remote First Nations communities
  • Flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays
  • Work may involve standing for long periods and light lifting
