Job summary

A Regional Health Authority in Manitoba is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to support drug distribution services. The role requires performing technical and clerical functions in line with regional health values. An ideal candidate will have Grade 12 education, preferably a diploma in Pharmacy assistance, and effective communication skills. Previous hospital pharmacy experience and a valid driver's license are essential. This term position may end earlier per the collective agreement, with accommodation for Indigenous applicants encouraged.

Job description
Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy and Manager of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Assistant supports the drug distribution services of Pharmacy Departments in the region through the performance of technical and clerical functions. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience
  • Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
  • Previous knowledgeable and experience with sterile product preparation is required.
  • Basic computer experience is required including typing skills (minimum 40 wpm).
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Complete Grade 12 education, Manitoba standards required.
  • Complete diploma in Pharmacy assistant (Preference).
Qualifications And Skills
  • Maintains current knowledge of the Hospital Disaster and Contingency Plans and the requirements of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic math and accounting skills.
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to communicate in more than one language would be considered an asset.
  • Must possess effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability of good interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.
Physical Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
  • Adhere to all safety and health regulations and safe work practices.
  • May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Will be required to travel to other regional facilities as the position duties may require.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
