Responsibilities
- Assist clients with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Provide support with mobility, transfers, and ambulation as needed.
- Administer medication according to prescribed instructions.
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring dietary preferences are met.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, including light housekeeping and laundry duties.
- Engage in meaningful interactions and companionship with clients to promote emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and caregivers to ensure holistic care.
- Document client care activities accurately and maintain up-to-date records.
- Respond to emergencies or changes in clients' conditions promptly and appropriately.
- Provide respectful and dignified end-of-life care when necessary.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards in caregiving.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of a recognized Personal Support Worker program.
- Valid certification as a Personal Support Worker.
- Recent TB Test or Chest X-Ray.
- First Aid or CPR Certificate.
- Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is an asset.
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform lifting and mobility tasks.
- Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
