Job summary

A regional healthcare provider in Canada is seeking a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join their Special Educational Needs (SEN) Pathway. This role focuses on helping children with complex communication needs, including those who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Candidates should have a passion for working with children, be registered with HCPC, and possess good clinical reasoning skills. Qualifications

  • Undergraduate experience in a wide range of clinical areas.
  • NHS or Social Service experience required.
  • Recent experience assessing and treating speech, language, and communication difficulties in a children's therapy service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for children and young people.
  • Support the implementation and review of AAC systems.
  • Work collaboratively with schools and multidisciplinary colleagues.

Skills

Good clinical reasoning skills
Evidence of CPD and reflective practice
Ability to maintain legible and accurate records
Ability to communicate effectively with people with complex difficulties
Proven ability to work well in a team
