Part-time Professor - Plumbing Apprenticeship and Mechanical Techniques Program
This posting is for Part-time instructors and professors. The department is Apprenticeship Training, Automotive and Mechanical Trades. The anticipated start date is September 15, 2025, and the length of contract is 4 months. The posting is open to all qualified individuals and closes on September 18, 2025.
Responsibilities
- The Professional Responsibilities Include: design, revision and updating of courses; consulting with program and course administrators, advisory committees, employers and students; defining learning outcomes and evaluating these outcomes; specifying and approving learning approaches and resources; incorporating educational technologies to meet 21st-century learning needs; reviewing and revising curriculum and engaging in professional development during non-teaching periods.
- The Teaching Of Assigned Courses: deliver regularly scheduled instruction in Fall, Winter, or Summer terms; ensure students are aware of course learning outcomes and evaluation techniques; provide tutoring and academic advising for students in and out of class; create a learning environment that utilizes available resources and educational technologies; evaluate student progress and assume responsibility for overall assessment; develop a learning environment conducive to student success.
- The Provision Of Academic Leadership: participate in curriculum and departmental / faculty meetings; liaise with community members and engage in program, Department, School or Faculty, and College promotion; stay current in the field and aware of emerging trends and practices in higher education; model College values – Caring. Learning. Integrity. Respect.
Qualifications
- Red Seal Plumber license (306A)
- Minimum 5 years in the field of Apprenticeship Training, Automotive and Mechanical Trades
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, or equivalent; preference for postsecondary setting
