Job Description

Under the direction of the Facility supervisor, the Laundry Aide is responsible for performing laundry tasks in an efficient and safe manner with due consideration for the needs and comfort of the residents, and promoting a safe, clean, sanitized and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities
  • Collects soiled linens and personal laundry from user areas.
  • Sorts, washes, dries, and folds linen and residents’ personal clothing.
  • Distributes linen to clean linen rooms and personal clothing to resident rooms.
  • Follows policies and procedures and work routines.
  • Report unsafe, hazardous working conditions and any equipment malfunctions to their supervisor.
  • Ensure the laundry room is kept in a clean and orderly state.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Brings a caring, compassionate, and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
  • Physically able to perform duties as outlined, including physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, stretching, mopping, and pushing laundry carts.
  • Must be able to work with detergents, soaps, and chemicals regularly used in the laundry department.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and processes.
  • Mindful of the hospice environment and the compassionate nature of the residents being cared for.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to function as an effective team member with other staff, residents, and families.
