Overview

Visitor Services Attendant (2 Streams) Parks Canada, Jasper, AB • Remote • $22.33–$29.85 per hour

Jasper National Park of Canada (Alberta) GS-BUS-02, GS-MPS-04. Anticipatory (Summer 2025) term and seasonal appointments of various durations with a specific need for bilingual candidates in gates and campgrounds from May 2025 to September 2025.

Closing date: 26 March 2025 - 23:59, Pacific Time. Who can apply: Persons employed or residing in Jasper, Alberta and within a 125 kilometre radius of Jasper, Alberta who have a legal status to work in Canada. Duties
  • Visitor Facilities Attendant (Stream 1): Facilities Attendants clean and maintain Parks Canada visitor facilities/buildings and grounds in all corners of the Park. They work well with others, take pride in their work, and help create memorable experiences for visitors. They may interact with visitors, answer inquiries, provide direction, and represent Parks Canada at all times in addition to cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Visitor Services Attendant (Stream 2): Campgrounds Attendants welcome visitors, provide information about camping, safety, weather, trails, park rules and policies; they perform cleaning and minor maintenance, conduct facility rounds, and may collect fees and keep financial records.
  • Entry Gates: Gate Attendants welcome visitors entering Jasper National Park, collect revenue through park passes, provide basic safety and park information, and work independently for most of their shift while contributing to overall park operations.
  • Congestion and Compliance: Be the friendly face of Jasper National Park, directing traffic at day use areas, interacting with visitors, educating the public on park rules, and updating a live webpage with parking lot capacity while representing Parks Canada.
  • Miette Hot Springs: Greet guests and assist with day-to-day cleaning and minor maintenance of the facilities to provide a safe aquatic environment and quality visitor experience. Note: Miette Hot Springs is a fast-paced, remote work environment about an hour from Jasper townsite.

Essential qualifications

EXPERIENCE (BOTH STREAMS): Experience in providing cleaning services (in facilities such as commercial or institutional environments) and experience providing information and service to the public, including complaint resolution.

EXPERIENCE (STREAM 2 ONLY - VISITOR SERVICES ATTENDANT): Experience identifying hazards and potential risks, taking proactive steps to maintain a safe environment; experience in handling cash, operating point of sale systems, and performing cash-out duties.

KNOWLEDGE (BOTH STREAMS): Knowledge of how to apply health and safety procedures at the work site.

ABILITIES (BOTH STREAMS): Client focus, concern for safety, integrity, problem solving, teamwork.

PERSONAL SUITABILITY (BOTH STREAMS): Exercises sound judgment, communicates effectively, takes responsibility, and personally connects with people.

ASSET ABILITIES (STREAM 2 ONLY - VISITOR SERVICES ATTENDANT): Enforcement knowledge of policies to detect violations and take appropriate action.

Conditions of employment
  • Reliability Status security clearance (you are required to obtain and maintain this security level throughout employment).
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent.
  • You must be willing to work overtime, shift-work, weekends, and statutory holidays as scheduled.
  • Compensation as prescribed in the Terms and Conditions of Employment.
  • You must be willing to work and travel in a variety of terrains and weather conditions; you may be required to wear a uniform provided by Parks Canada under the Uniform Policy.
  • Visitor Services Attendants and Visitor Facilities Attendants are expected to commute to their assigned workplaces via personal vehicle or transport up to 60 km from the Jasper townsite, with commuting allowance for distances over 32 km for eligible employees.
