A federal government agency is seeking a qualified candidate for an environmental assessment position in Jasper, Alberta. The successful applicant will have significant experience in preparing impact assessments and facilitating environmental protection processes. Important Note: The work location is Jasper, Alberta. Remote work is not possible for this position. Due to the 2024 Jasper wildfire, staff accommodations are limited, but are a possibility if required. Housing in general can also be challenging to secure at this time. Many employees choose to commute from Hinton, Alberta, about 75 km from the Jasper townsite. Commuting assistance would be provided in these cases.
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national historic sites and related areas. The work location is Jasper, Alberta; remote work is not possible.
Jasper offers mountains and outdoor recreation opportunities. The position requires willingness to travel in various terrains and weather conditions and may involve shift work and working in adverse weather.
Education: Graduation from a recognized university with an undergraduate degree in resource management, conservation biology or other environmental science relevant to the position (environmental science includes biology, ecology, forestry, soil science, geology or geography). Degree equivalency.
Additional experience: Experience in hazardous material management, spill avoidance and response; experience collaborating with Indigenous groups or Indigenous organizations.
Language: English essential.
