Job description

Paralegal Supervisor Position No: 226566 & 226568. Level/Salary: Level 5, $105,167 - $114,938 (PSCSAA 2024). Work Type: Permanent - Full Time, Branch: Prosecution Support, Location: Perth, Closing Date: 2026-01-27 4:00 PM

Position Objective

This position provides supervision and quality assurance of briefs prepared by the Prosecution Services Division and assists Investigating Officers, prosecutors and solicitors as required.

Specialist Pre‑requisites
  • Successful obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance for the duration of appointment. Only Australian citizens are eligible; applicants who are not yet citizens must be in the process of applying and be eligible prior to appointment.
  • Requirement to undertake a psychological assessment to determine suitability, and as incumbent agree to undergo periodical assessments as required.
Application Process

Applicants are asked to address the following nominated work‑related requirements in no more than three (3) pages, with justified edges and minimum of Arial size 11 font:

  • Ability in the interpretation and application of legislation and the justice system – Interpreting and applying legislation including the Criminal Investigations Act 2006 and the Criminal Procedures Act 2004. Understanding the civil law discovery process and Western Australia Court Jurisdiction procedures.
  • Analytical and conceptual skills – Conceptualising and analysing issues to provide advice and recommendations and manage decisions on the disclosure of information. Solving problems and providing outcomes. Reviewing and analysing information and ensuring all processes are compliant.
  • Supervisory skills – Supervising a team to manage workload and deliver a high‑quality service. Providing advice and guidance, setting priorities, training and staff development.

Applicants must also submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) of no more than four (4) pages. The CV should provide sufficient detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills, experience and qualifications relevant to the key accountabilities as outlined in the attached Position Description Form.

The CV must include the names and contact details of two referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

Other Conditions
  • Selection process may also be used to fill similar vacancies throughout the metropolitan area.
  • Should the successful applicant decline or vacate, the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process for up to twelve (12) months from the initial appointment date.
  • Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the applicant is not a current WA Police Force employee.
  • Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
