KPMG Law’s Tax Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice assists companies and individuals in achieving timely and fair resolutions in various tax disputes. Our team is involved at every stage of the tax dispute process, from pre‑litigation to litigation before provincial and federal courts and tribunals.

What you will do

In this role, you will thrive in a dynamic environment and bring strong organizational skills. You will contribute by offering solutions, sharing ideas, and supporting the effective progression of files along with the following activities:

  • Draft responses to the Canada Revenue Agency and prepare supporting documentation
  • Prepare correspondence and draft legal documents including lists of documents, affidavits, undertakings charts, and transcript summaries
  • Manage the preparation and filing of court materials such as Books of Documents, Books of Authorities, and motion materials
  • Coordinate and assist with preparation for meetings, discoveries, trials, and related tasks
  • Attend discoveries, hearings, and client meetings and provide support as required
  • Communicate with clients, the CRA, courts, and related parties with a client‑focused approach
  • Manage and improve e‑Discovery processes including workspaces, document production, coding, and workflow development
  • Handle file and case management tasks including organizing materials, tracking deadlines, and identifying next steps
What you bring to the role
  • Paralegal degree/diploma, law clerk diploma, or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in litigation; tax dispute experience is an asset
  • Basic understanding of Court Rules and Practice Directions; familiarity with Tax Court of Canada Rules and Federal Courts Rules is an asset
  • Experience with motions, discoveries, and trial preparation
  • Working knowledge of e‑Discovery platforms such as Relativity, Ringtail/Nuix, or similar tools
  • Strong organizational and time management skills for managing competing deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team and handle confidential information with discretion
