Position Description

Title: Packer

Department: Slitting

Location: Cornwall, ON

Reports to: Production Supervisor.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Packer is responsible for packaging rolls of tape in preparation for shipping.

Principle Accountabilities

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.
• Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency.
• Ensure outputs meet production schedules, safety and quality standards.
• Ensure proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
• Follow manufacturing and processing procedures, and carry out production and inspection processes.
• Mark, record, and report defective products.
• Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at the end of the day.
• Closely monitor machines for signs of problems while ensuring output is meeting set specifications.
• Remove completed products from conveyors and manually pack goods into bags, boxes or other containers.
• Communicate with the lead hand, operator, supervisor, engineers, quality and other personnel to resolve equipment or quality issues.
• Additional duties as requested.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience is an asset.
• Work well independently and in a team setting.
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical labour.
• Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
