Consumer Financing at Clutch:

Clutch is building a consumer financing capability to offer customers a simpler, more transparent way to finance their vehicle while supporting Clutch’s growth with a scalable, disciplined lending platform. In this role, you’ll help shape our lending strategy, risk framework, and operations as we bring this business to life.

About the role:

We’re hiring an Operations Manager, Consumer Financing to help build and scale the operating engine behind Clutch’s lending program. This is a high-ownership, hands-on generalist role for someone who can run key processes, solve messy problems, and improve the system as we grow. You’ll work closely with the Director of Consumer Financing and partner cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Data, and Finance to help build and scale Clutch’s consumer financing business. You’ll own day-to-day execution across core workflows, drive continuous improvement, and help build the playbooks and tooling needed to scale. This is an opportunity for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys ambiguity, and wants to build something meaningful from the ground up.

What You’ll Do:

Own day-to-day financing operations

  • Build and run and continuously improve workflows across the financing lifecycle (origination, documentation, underwriting support, funding, servicing coordination, and collections support).
  • Own operational cadence, deal tracking, escalations, exception handling, and internal SLAs to keep deals moving.
  • Ensure operational quality through checklists, controls, and strong documentation standards.

Build scalable processes and tooling

  • Identify bottlenecks and failure points; design and implement process improvements to increase speed and reduce error rates.
  • Develop SOPs, playbooks, templates, and QA processes that create consistency and enable scaling.
  • Translate operational needs into clear requirements for Product/Engineering; support testing, rollouts, and adoption.

Use data to drive performance

  • Monitor core operating metrics (turnaround times, approval/funding rates, exception rates, doc quality, customer friction points).
  • Build lightweight dashboards and reporting to identify trends and drive prioritization.
  • Run root-cause analysis on issues and implement fixes that stick.

Coordinate cross-functionally and with partners

  • Partner with Sales and Finance to resolve customer issues quickly and create smoother handoffs.
  • Support operational relationship management with external vendors/partners (e.g., verification tools, service providers, lending partners), including reporting and documentation requests.
  • Help keep internal stakeholders aligned through clear updates, escalations, and process clarity.

Support compliance and controls

  • Help ensure lending operations are executed in line with internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and operational controls as the program evolves.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in operations, business operations, fintech/lending ops, payments ops, or other process-heavy execution roles, exposure to credit/lending is a significant asset.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a high-ownership environment—you take initiative, move fast, and drive outcomes with limited oversight.
  • Strong operational judgment: you can balance speed, customer experience, and risk/quality.
  • Analytical skills: comfortable using data (often imperfect) to prioritize work and measure impact.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail—especially in documentation-heavy workflows.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across business and technical teams.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and building structure where none exists.
  • Nice to have:
    • Exposure to consumer lending/credit, underwriting, loan origination/servicing, or regulated financial workflows.
    • Experience working with Product/Engineering to automate operational processes.
    • Familiarity with KYC/identity verification, credit bureaus, or collections/servicing operations

This role is based in Toronto and requires on-site presence—remote candidates will not be considered.

Why You’ll Love It at Clutch:

Be part of a disruptive, tech-driven company that is transforming the automotive industry—one of the largest and fastest growing B2C startups in Canada.

A unique opportunity to build a captive lending business from the ground up, with direct impact on strategy and operations.

Freedom to innovate and ownership of your role—work on meaningful and challenging projects that have a direct impact on the business.

Collaborate with a talented and passionate team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Competitive pay and equity incentives.

Comprehensive health and dental benefits.

Opportunities for growth and development in a rapidly scaling company.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

You’ll love this role if you like being a builder—taking a 0→1 financing program and helping turn it into a scalable, repeatable operating machine. You’ll help establish the operating foundation from the ground up, with high ownership to run key workflows end-to-end and drive improvements that directly impact customer experience and unit economics. You’ll also tackle complex, cross-functional problems at the intersection of Product, Risk, Operations, and Customer Experience—while growing quickly through outsized scope, steep learning, and the chance to take on more responsibility as the business scales.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $110,000-$130,000 annually
  • Equity incentives
  • Comprehensive healthcare, dental, vision, life insurance, and dependent coverage starting from day 1
