Responsibilities
  • Operate electronic or computerized control panel from a central control room.
  • Participate in training of other workers.
  • Control process start-up, shut-down, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in safety audits and programs.
  • Monitor outside process equipment.
  • Adjust equipment, valves, pumps and controls, and process equipment.
  • Develop operator procedures for normal operation, start-up or shut-down.
  • Rotate between different petroleum, gas and chemical processing units during shift cycles.
  • May work in a team with shared supervisory responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations.
  • Manipulate sections of pipes or drill stems at rig floor during drilling and during removal and replacement of pipes, drill stems and drill bits.
  • Clean up rig areas.
  • Assist in setting up, taking down and transporting drilling and service rigs and service equipment.
Qualifications

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: Will train.

Certificates and Licences:

  • Electronic General Safety Orientation (EGSO)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate
  • Industrial First Aid Certificate
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate

Security and Safety:

  • Driving record check (abstract)
  • Medical exam
  • Drug test
  • Criminal record check

Transportation/travel: Valid driver's licence.
