What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking a Overhead Contact System Engineer or Designer to join our Public Transit Practice in Toronto. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

Design of OCS systems, including overhead wire layouts, structural details and other schematics.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Support senior engineers in reviewing designs, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Attend project meetings, contribute to Value Engineering discussions, and help keep construction costs within budget.
  • Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and field teams on installation and field support tasks.

What you will bring to the firm:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering.
  • 0-4 years of experience with overhead catenary or traction power systems.
  • AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in transit and railway engineering through prior internship or applied coursework experience.
  • Proficient in data analysis and possess strong problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

What we prefer you bring:

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Bentley Rail Track.
  • Familiarity with railway and transit engineering principles and practices.

Compensation:
