Job description
On-Board PMO is currently hiring an Occupational Health Nurse in Valley View, OH

Type: Full Time

Title: Occupational Health Nurse

Compensation: $42.50 per hour + Overtime

Benefits: Eligible for complete benefits package after 60 days

Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday – Valley View
Tuesday – Copley
Thursday – Stow
On-call, hours 6 am – 3 pm with an hour lunch to cover all three shifts.

Primary Function

The primary function of the Occupational Health Nurse is to implement the current North American Regional and Site Integrated Health Services Programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage the day-to-day operations of site medical, including coordinating the budget and the maintenance of facility and supplies and scheduling of the off-site contract physician, as needed.
  2. Provide first aid for minor injuries, such as abrasions, superficial lacerations, contusions, foreign bodies in eye, sprains, strains, punctures, splinters, etc. to ascertain the need for further treatment by a physician in order to minimize the effects of the condition and to decrease the possibility of any long‑term disability resulting from said condition.
  3. Administer emergency medications and immunizations, etc., as ordered by the physician within the legal scope of expertise.
  4. Act as a health coach and/or advisor educating employees on various health topics and enabling employees to make healthy lifestyle choices.
  5. Be trained to operate the medical testing equipment (vision/hearing/spirometry) as part of medical clearance process and to provide early detection of changes and implement appropriate referrals and/or follow‑up programs.
  6. In coordination with the site contract physician, schedule and/or conduct pre‑assigned health assessments, routine medical surveillance evaluations for employees and under a service level agreement to some core variable contractors.
  7. Manage Early Report of Pain documentation and determine work relationship and follow up action.
  8. Assist supervision in the administration of the short‑term disability program and Family Medical Leave through Medical Case Management and assess employees for return to work, fitness for duty and if necessary, recommending guided work restrictions, when needed.
  9. Ensure compliance with Federal, State and other regulatory agencies, mandated regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, etc.) as well as Corporate HIS Standards and Guidelines.
  10. Provide or coordinate for the care, treatment and management of occupational and non‑occupational injuries/illnesses. Work with Broadspire in the management of Workers Compensation cases.
  11. Participate in recognizing and evaluating workplace hazards, such as related to ergonomics, indoor air quality, heat stress, etc., by conducting workplace audits.
  12. Record appropriate entries into employees' electronic medical record concerning patient assessments, signs and symptoms, treatment, follow‑up care and education regarding condition in order to provide accurate documentation for employee/physician reference and provide a concise database for medico‑legal responsibilities. The preferred method of documentation in Cority.
  13. Apply best practices and technology as applied to occupational medicine processes in order to improve those processes. Coordinate and leverage resources with other medical professionals both within and outside Client to appropriately manage medical care and costs.
  14. Perform urine drug collection and processes to ensure proper chain of custody and work closely with the site Medical Review Officer in interpretations of testing results.
  15. Available for call and work during off‑hours with minimal notices as needed.
  16. Engaging with production workers to prevent common workplace injuries.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse in good‑standing with a current and active license by the State Board of Nursing.
  • At least 5 years’ experience as an RN, and preferably at least 3 years’ experience in an industrial plant setting.
  • Degree in nursing or equivalent, and preferably possess a COHN (Certification in Occupational Health Nursing).
  • Ability to work independent of daily physician oversight, and able to recognize when need for consultation with a physician is necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment with a diverse workforce.
  • Knowledge of computer applications of comprehensive tracking systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience and ability to manage emergency care situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
