Main duties of the job

The role of aNursing Assistant is pivotal to the safe and effective delivery of mental healthservices, supporting on the delivery of care packages and the assessment,treatment and rehabilitation of the individuals using our services. This willinclude providing emotional support, assisting with activities of daily livingand advocating for the individuals who use our services. The role is alsoimperative to ensuring that working practices are safe and effective, throughimplementation of risk management plans, supervision, continuous professionaldevelopment and reflection.

We'recurrently considering candidates for inpatient acute.

Job responsibilities

Specificduties and responsibilities vary depending on the specific role and service,however all of our Nursing Assistants are supported by a team of qualifiedprofessionals. Duties include:

To developknowledge and understanding of the lived experience of people in your care sothat you can provide the right support that will meet their own identifiedneeds.

To advocatefor your service users so that they are at the forefront of designing their ownmental health care and support and so that their voice is heard at all levels.

To developsupportive and caring relationships with individual service users and toprovide daily support through encouragement, understanding and motivation.

To deliverprescribed 1:1 and group interventions within the scope of the support plan,with care and compassion, this may include but this list is not exhaustive:

I.Budgeting,benefits and welfare rights

II.Diet,exercise and well-being

III.Planning,shopping and cooking of meals

IV.Education,occupation, training and development

V.Healthylifestyle, healthy choices

VI.Activitiesof daily living

VII.Administeringof oral medication

To provideupdates to senior staff of individuals mood, behaviour, interaction, motivationand mental health so that plans of care can be reviewed accordingly.

Sensitivelysupport individuals with activities of daily living with the goal to meet theseneeds and enhance these essential living skills.

To work withand without direct supervision.

Help identifyearly signs of relapse and regression by monitoring the individual's progress,level of functioning and mental state and alert the appropriate staff involvedin the persons care.

To undertakesuch other duties as may be determined from time to time within the generalscope of the post.

Be able towork flexibly within the different elements of the appropriate service pathwaywhen required.

Toensure delivery of care in accordance with care plans and risk managementplans. To ensure delivery of care inaccordance with care plans and risk management plans.

Person Specification
Knowledge
  • A foundation knowledge of mental health.
  • A keen interest in mental health, as evidenced by research on the subject.
  • Knowledge of benefits and housing systems.
Additional Requirements
  • Able to work shifts, covering days and some nights, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Currently eligible to work in the UK.
Qualifications
  • Care certificate, or prepared to work towards completion of this within two years.
  • GCSE or equivalent qualification (level 2) in Maths and English.
  • Mental Health First Aid.
  • First Aid.
  • IT or equivalent qualification to level 2.
Experience
  • For Support Workers:
  • No experience necessary.
  • Experience working in a mental health setting.
  • Experience effectively communicating with people who have additional needs in this respect.
