As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) applies advanced nursing and medical theory to the provision of clinical care, autonomously ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmacologic interventions and performing minor invasive procedures. The NP contributes to knowledge, development and involvement in advancing the nursing profession, incorporating medical and advanced nursing knowledge into clinical practice. The NP demonstrates competence to practice autonomously in promoting health, preventing illness, planning, implementing and evaluating complex care, and teaching others. The NP supports problem solving among staff, patients/residents/clients and with physicians and the multi-disciplinary team. Applies skills in consultation, collaboration and systems management to provide effective care.
The incumbent exercises initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods, and acts on unusual matters. This role aligns with the mission, vision and values and with Southern Health-Santé Sud policies and partnering Fee for Service Clinics.
