The Centre d'Essais Techniques (MER) (CETM) is the main Maritime testing and evaluation center for the National Defense. CETM provides multidisciplinary technical testing services, including non-destructive testing to ensure asset protection. CETM is managed by Weir Canada Inc. on behalf of the Canadian government since 1953, with over 400 employees serving the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and DND in various technical fields.

Purpose of Role: As an NDT specialist, you will support inspection activities for naval vessels mainly in Montreal, Halifax, and Victoria.

Responsibilities under supervision of the Operations Manager:

  • Demonstrate 100% commitment to safety and zero harm behaviors.
  • Perform ship inspections on various components and interpret results.
  • Write detailed inspection reports.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients.
  • Supervise and train assistant technicians when required.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional work ethic and attitude.
  • Flexibility with work schedules.
  • Excellent customer service and work quality.
  • Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Knowledge of ultrasonic testers, penetrating liquids, magnetic particles, eddy currents, and similar equipment.
  • Bilingual (spoken and written).
  • Strong communication skills and team spirit.
  • Initiative and autonomy.
  • Canadian citizenship and at least 10 years of residence in Canada, with no more than six months abroad at a time, to qualify for security clearance at the Secret level.
