Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Night Attendant is responsible for responding to calls, greeting visitors, answering inquiries professionally, cleaning, and sanitizing common areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the front desk courteously and efficiently;
- Answer calls and respond to inquiries positively and professionally;
- Redirect calls and take clear messages when needed;
- Greet, assist, and direct visitors;
- Handle administrative and introductory accounting duties;
- Manage internal and external mail processes;
- Coordinate packages and courier pickups;
- Schedule and book meeting rooms;
- Update contact and distribution lists;
- Replace staff as necessary;
- Respond immediately to emergency systems;
- Report maintenance or repair needs via Maintenance Care system;
- Be accessible and responsive to team and management;
- Keep the reception area clean, safe, and organized;
- Maintain harmonious relationships with residents, families, and staff;
- Report resident concerns or complaints to management;
- Assist with small projects and administrative tasks;
- Provide evening security and emergency response when required;
- Clean and sanitize areas according to schedule using proper methods;
- Perform laundry duties including washing, treating, and folding;
- Operate cleaning and floor care equipment;
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, furniture, fixtures, walls, and windows;
- Manage garbage and recycling transport;
- Follow residence policies, safety rules, and procedures;
- Document activities as required;
- Respect and promote Residents' Rights and Responsibilities;
- Attend training and staff meetings;
- Participate in Quality Improvement programs;
- Perform additional duties as assigned;
- Uphold organizational values of ethics, morality, and integrity.
Required Education, Credentials, and Experience
- Excellent communication skills in English, demonstrating empathy and patience;
- Ability to provide constructive feedback daily;
- Knowledge of institutional cleaning techniques;
- Experience in commercial, residential, or healthcare cleaning and laundry preferred;
- Reception experience is an asset;
- Professional telephone manner;
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines;
- Highly organized and detail-oriented;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Email preferred;
- Ability to work independently;
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications;
- Smart Choices Responsible Service Certification (Serving It Safe);
- Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS) within the last 6 months.
