Job description

Overview

Municipality of Jasper AB Fleet Mechanic. Anticipated Start Date: ASAP. Position Details: Number of Positions Available 1. Position Type: Full-Time; Duration: 1-year term (term). The primary role is to assist the Fleet Technician with preventative and corrective maintenance on the Municipality of Jasper’s vehicles and equipment, and to operate heavy equipment as required to support scheduled and emergency operational needs including hauling, earthworks and snow clearing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe worksite.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all small engines, motorized and non-motorized equipment, and light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles including Emergency Services Vehicles.
• Ensure all vehicles are inspected and maintained in compliance with the Municipality of Jasper’s Fitness Safety Certificate and Safety and Maintenance Programs.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using manuals and test equipment (e.g., Cummins Insight, Sauer Danfoss).
• Maintain a clean and safe worksite; use online services (ShopKey Pro, Truck Series) to repair or replace defective parts, components or systems as needed.
• Order, purchase, receive, and track costs for parts and supplies following purchasing policies and accounting procedures.
• Maintain an inventory of common supplies, parts, and components.
• Effectively and safely operate all vehicles and mobile equipment owned and operated by the Municipality of Jasper.
• Maintain digital and hard copy maintenance files on all vehicles and equipment; write service reports; interpret work orders and technical manuals.
• Engage with Municipality of Jasper safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• English fluency (advanced level).
• Red Seal Automotive Service Technician with minimum 3 years of experience.
• Class 3 Driver’s License with Airbrakes Endorsement.
• WHMIS Certification; Standard First Aid/CPR.
• Preferred assets: Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician; CVIP Technician; Welding and fabrication experience; Class 1 Driver’s License; Heavy equipment operation with minimum 3 years’ experience; Small engine repair experience; Forklift Operator training; Load Securement training.
