A leading automotive company in York Region is seeking an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Motion Controls Senior Software Engineer. In this role, you'll lead projects for automated driving features, ensuring high-quality software delivery. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and over 5 years of relevant experience, especially in control systems design. Work Arrangement: This opening is hybrid, the successful candidate is expected to report to the office - Markham Elevation Centre (MEC) three times per week, at minimum.

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Motion Controls Senior Software Engineer to provide technical leadership in a high performing and highly innovative team of engineers responsible for the design, development, testing and implementation of ADAS Lateral Control software for Super Cruise and other GM Active Safety features. As the ADAS Motion Controls Senior Engineer, you will provide effective team leadership, promote innovation, support cross team collaboration and inspire passion in the team. You will play a pivotal role in defining and executing GM's ADAS current production and future product software strategy across all controllers, ensuring seamless coordination of software deliveries.
The ADAS Motion Controls Senior Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of production active safety and automated driving software with speed and quality and with focus on efficient software design and optimized software architecture to maximizing reuse across all scalable ADAS platforms. This senior engineer will collaborate with other ADAS application software engineering teams to deliver ADAS software products with industry leading performance and innovation. This role will require a sense of urgency and an ability to adapt to new organizational direction in order provide clear and detailed guidance to the team
Develop lateral/longitudinal control algorithms and real-time control software for automated/autonomous driving features, such as Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Super Cruise 2.0, Super Cruise 3.0 and Front/Rear Impact Mitigation, that raise baseline performance to desired levels and reduce manual calibration effort
Develop CI/CD pipeline that continuously validates feature control performance for each software change
Conduct software verification and robust feature validation using unit testing, SIL/HIL, and extensive in-vehicle performance testing
Lead Motion Control projects, set and track deadlines, and coach other members of the team
Maintain the latest performance on test vehicles and management of vehicle test fleet
Support production calibration activities and the resolution of field and customer issues
Develop creative and innovative solutions and protect intellectual property through patents and publications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or Mechatronics/Software/Electrical/Computer Engineering
5+ years of experience developing control systems and/or motion planner
Advanced skills in control systems design: robust, adaptive, nonlinear, and model-predictive controls
Knowledge of online learning algorithms, such as Kalman Filter and Recursive Least-Squares
Automotive simulation and validation experience (HIL/SIL)
Knowledgeable in vehicle dynamics and numerical methods
Experience with software design, Simulink modelling, Python and embedded C/C++ programming
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Able to learn independently, highly adaptable and embracing of changes
High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work well with other team members
