Overview

As a Millwright Apprentice Co-op, you will support production by learning to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize industrial machinery and mechanical equipment all while strictly adhering to safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Work Term: Winter 2026: 8 or 12 Months term
Work Arrangement: Day Shift, On-Site, 5 days per week (Mon - Fri)
Work Location: 90 Belfield Rd., Etobicoke, ON

Responsibilities
  • Assist in diagnosing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, lubrication, and power transmission system faults under supervision, escalating as needed.
  • Clean, lubricate, inspect, and perform maintenance on machinery in line with work orders.
  • Assist journeypersons in scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance routines.
  • Assist in machinery inspections to identify abnormalities, aiding in preventing production interruptions.
  • Document maintenance tasks accurately using a CMMS and ensure proper logbook record-keeping in line with apprenticeship requirements.
  • Support spot repairs on production and facility equipment, striving for minimal rework.
  • Collaborate with Advanced Mechanics (Millwrights) to interpret schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Assist with assembly, installation, alignment, commissioning, repair, and movement of industrial machinery using proper hand and power tools.
  • Support welding, cutting, rigging, machining, and lifting tasks under supervision.
  • Contribute to 5S and good housekeeping in workplace areas.
  • Provide support to other trades, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC tasks as needed.
  • Stay compliant with Environmental Legislation, O. Reg. 851 (Industrial Establishments), and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (highlighting Section 28 responsibilities).
Qualifications
  • Registered in a related program aligned with Ontario’s Millwright 433A curriculum (e.g., pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, college certificate).
  • Available and eligible to work an 8 or 12 Month Co-op Work Term starting in Winter 2026.
  • Exposure to PLCs, forklift/scissor lift operations, welding, or experience with machinery brands like Trumpf, Mazak, Cincinnati, ABB Robotics.
  • A team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Keen interest in design and manufacturing.
  • Some manufacturing experience is an asset.
