Job description
Overview

This posting is for current and future Medical Office Assistant opportunities in both bilingual (French) and non-bilingual clinics. It will establish a 6-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar bilingual and non-bilingual positions.

Current vacancies: one (1) Term bilingual (French) full-time position until March 31, 2027 (75 hours bi-weekly), and two (2) Auxiliary-on-call positions that may be bilingual or non-bilingual and will serve across all clinics in Integrated Health Services. Temporary assignments may be considered with prior approval from the applicant’s manager. Preference will be given to bilingual (French) candidates for any bilingual (French) positions that may come up in clinics within the Integrated Health Services branch. This job is based in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Who We Are

Reporting to the Clinic Managers of the Integrated Health Service branch, this position provides program, administrative and reception services to support services, activities, staff and clients of the Yukon Midwifery Clinic (YMC), Centre de santé Constellation Health Centre (CSCHC), Yukon Healthy Living Program (YHLP), and Whitehorse Walk-In Clinic (WWIC). The primary responsibility is to support clinic health professionals and clients while maintaining client confidentiality within legal and ethical boundaries.

To be successful, the candidate should have experience in a fast-paced environment, strong time management, and customer service skills, providing support to clinic health professionals and clients, and contributing to an inclusive, non-discriminatory and safe physical, psychological and cultural environment.

  • Formal education as an administrative medical office assistant is an asset.
  • Experience using electronic health record systems such as Plexia, Panorama and/or Meditech is an asset.

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before hire or within the specified time frames:

  • TB screening
  • RCMP clearance with Vulnerable Sector check
  • Valid Yukon Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent
  • Successful assessment by French Language Services in French/English language proficiency (bilingual candidates only)
Job Requirements

This job requires you to perform or be exposed to the following:

  • May be required to participate in an after-hours schedule to support clinic services outside regular hours.
  • Successful candidate(s) will be required to use a fleet vehicle to pick up supplies or make deliveries for the clinic or branch.
  • This position rotates between clinics within Integrated Health Services, Whitehorse.
