Job Summary And Requirements

This posting is for current and future AOC and Term Medical Office Assistant opportunities in both our bilingual (French) and non-bilingual clinics. It will establish a 6‑month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar bilingual and non‑bilingual positions.

Current vacancies: Two (2) Auxiliary‑on‑call positions that may be either bilingual or non‑bilingual and will serve across all clinics in Integrated Health Services.

Please note that preference will be given to bilingual (French) candidates for any bilingual (French) AOC/Term positions that may come up in any of the clinics within the Integrated Health Services branch.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

Who We Are

Reporting to the various Clinic Managers of the Integrated Health Service’s Branch, this position provides program, administrative and reception services to ensure effective and efficient support to services, activities, staff, and clients of the Yukon Midwifery Clinic (YMC), Centre de santé Constellation Health Centre (CSCHC), Yukon Healthy Living Program (YHLP), and Whitehorse Walk‑In Clinic (WWIC), including both medical office reception and assistant services. The primary responsibility is providing support to the clinic health professionals and the clinic clients/patients, while maintaining the legal and ethical boundaries of client confidentiality.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast‑paced environment, effective time management skills and customer service providing support to clinic health professionals and clients/patients, while contributing to an environment that is inclusive, non‑discriminatory, and physically, psychologically, and culturally safe.

Note for Bilingual candidates

English is the administrative language of work in the Government of Yukon therefore your resume must be submitted in English.

Essential qualifications

  • Experience providing customer service to a diverse clientele in a health and/or wellness environment.
  • Experience managing multiple tasks/demands.
  • Experience in transcription/data entry; clinical information is preferred but not required.
  • Formal educational as an administrative medical office assistant would be considered an asset.
  • Experience using electronic health record systems such as Plexia, Panorama and/or Meditech would be considered an asset.

  • Experience working with diverse populations, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and respect for varied backgrounds and needs.
  • In addition to the above, candidates will be assessed on their French and English language proficiency. (Bilingual candidates only)
Conditions of employment
  • TB screening.
  • RCMP clearance with Vulnerable Sector check.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
  • Successful assessment by French Language Services in French/English language proficiency (Bilingual candidates only).
Job Requirements
  • May be required to participate in an afterhours schedule to support clinic services outside of regular business hours.
  • The successful candidate(s) will be required to use a fleet vehicle to pick up supplies or make deliveries on behalf of the clinic or branch.
  • This position lives and works in Whitehorse and is required to rotate between clinics within Integrated Health Services.
