This dynamic role will manage employee medical cases, including Workers’ Compensation claims, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability claims; sick calls, medical return to work and modified duties programs, and maintain employee attendance information at our Toronto site on the grounds of the Toronto Pearson Airport.

What you’ll do

The Medical Case Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for employees, managers, Workers’ Compensation, and disability insurers on medical and attendance issues. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Assessing and investigating all medical absences
  • Proper categorization and tracking of absences
  • Managing all absences to case resolution
  • Creating and managing return-to-work and modified duty programs
  • Providing metrics to the management team for auditing and trend analysis
  • Meeting company, provincial, and federal requirements relating to medical and attendance processes
  • Building relationships with managers, employers, and human resources to gain buy-in for case management processes, modified duties, and return-to-work planning
  • Coaching managers and employees on absence management and investigative processes, business impact of unplanned labour loss, and adherence to attendance policies
  • Understanding relevant sections of Collective Bargaining Agreements, Workers’ Compensation and disability insurer policies, relevant government legislation (e.g., Ontario Human Rights Code), and Company procedures
  • Collaborating with other business units, including Union Representatives and Human Resources

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shift, typically Monday to Friday day shifts
  • Required to come in on weekends, holidays, afternoons and nights to meet business needs
