Job Overview

Job Title: Mechanical Superintendent

Reports To: Equipment Operations Manager

The Mechanical Superintendent is a pivotal role within the organization responsible for managing and overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of a fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. This role ensures that all equipment is properly maintained, operational downtime is minimized, and safety standards are adhered to.

Responsibilities:
  1. Operate in accordance to and uphold Emil Anderson Group (EAG) Core Values in all aspects of your work.
  2. Uphold an unwavering commitment to developing a zero-injury culture, and meeting the Paving the Way to Zero goals.
Fleet Management:
  1. Manage a fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment, including trucks, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and other specialized machinery.
  2. Develop and implement strategies for the efficient utilization and deployment of equipment across various projects and operational needs.
  3. Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, usage, maintenance history, and repairs.
Maintenance and Repair:
  1. Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment operates efficiently and reliably.
  2. Coordinate and schedule routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of vehicles and equipment.
  3. Manage repairs and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Safety and Compliance:
  1. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and company policies related to equipment operation and maintenance.
  2. Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment and facilities to identify and address potential hazards.
  3. Implement safety training programs for equipment operators and maintenance staff.
Budget and Resource Management:
  1. Coordinate procurement of parts, materials, and services necessary for equipment maintenance and repairs.
  2. Monitor fuel consumption and equipment usage to optimize operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Supervision and Training:
  1. Supervise a team of mechanics, technicians, and equipment operators.
  2. Provide leadership, guidance, and training to ensure team members perform their duties effectively and safely.
  3. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development among equipment maintenance personnel.
Reporting and Documentation:
  1. Prepare regular reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and budget expenditures.
  2. Analyze data and metrics to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and cost-saving initiatives.
  3. Communicate equipment status, issues, and recommendations to senior management and project stakeholders.
Competencies:
  1. Proven experience in equipment management, preferably in a construction, mining, logistics, or similar industry.
  2. Strong technical knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment systems, maintenance practices, and repair procedures.
  3. Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and industry standards.
  4. Leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team.
  5. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel for project management.
  7. Strong leadership to effectively manage and motivate teams.
  8. Analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges.
  9. Highly organized with attention to detail.
  10. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  11. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  12. Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

The salary range for this position will be discussed during the interview stage, taking into consideration candidate qualifications and experience.
