Job description
Overview

You'll join the mechanical engineering team, which works on projects in the aluminium, mining, energy and heavy industry sectors. As an engineer, you’ll define solutions, design technical components, coordinate the work of project implementation staff, manage projects effectively and collaborate with various client stakeholders. You’ll work with mechanical experts from Québec City, Mont-Saint-Hilaire and Montréal to develop your skills and deliver successful projects. Part of your role will also involve being on site to support clients, from assessing needs to supervising work and commissioning new assets, while meeting regularly with site stakeholders.

  • Assist with design project studies and detailed engineering assignments
  • Help write technical reports
  • Help design plans and specifications
  • Perform design calculations and ensure plans meet guidelines, code requirements and other regulations
  • Coordinate the work of designers and other team members
  • Assign tasks to less experienced engineers, technicians and support staff and review their work
  • Make technical choices on designs to be established, provide recommendations and make important decisions on highly technical or complex issues
  • Ensure work complies with budgets, estimates, procedures and schedules
  • Participate in site surveys
  • Help draft proposals
  • Identify business needs
  • Coordinate projects with client stakeholders
  • Manage mainly single-discipline projects

Qualifications

Summary of certifications and job requirements

  • University degree in mechanical engineering and a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
  • Two to five years of experience as a mechanical engineer
  • Available for short-term work assignments outside the office
  • Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients located in English-speaking Canadian provinces and abroad; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects
  • Advanced French skills to collaborate effectively with BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Asset: experience in the industrial sector
  • Asset: ASPConstruction card
