Overview

Bailey Electronics is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Developer 3 on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is onsite; no hybrid or remote at this time. The Mechanical Engineer/Developer 3 brings advanced technical expertise and operates with a high level of independence to solve complex engineering challenges. In this role, you will lead the development of innovative mechanical or electromechanical systems, deliver accurate and timely engineering information, and contribute to the design and evolution of products that support both internal and external customers while collaborating with a passionate engineering team committed to innovation and continuous improvement.

This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a creative, fast-paced environment, enjoys leading projects that directly influence technical teams, product performance and customer success. This is a highly collaborative role focused on developing robust, well-designed products for the mobile equipment industry.

Position Responsibilities
  • Drive New Product Development for a wide range of products for Bailey Electronics
  • Technical Problem-Solving and supporting internal and external customers
  • Ensure that designs are feasible, manufacturable, and have robust performance
  • Develop test procedures, specifications, and validation strategies
  • Conduct and oversee testing activities; analyze results and produce clear, actionable test reports and recommendations
  • Project Leadership & Collaboration; manage multiple concurrent tasks, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Plan and manage team priorities, set expectations, and consistently achieve targeted outcomes
  • Review and guide technical work produced by a team of developers, ensuring quality and alignment with project and company standards
  • Lead or support strategic engineering initiatives, including R&D efforts, component evaluations, process development, and continuous improvement projects
  • Produce accurate and complete engineering documentation, including specifications, BOMs, schematics, and CAD models/drawings
  • Maintain high standards for documentation quality across the engineering team
  • Create and adhere to company-wide and department-specific technical, safety, and design guidelines
  • Collaborate cross-functional with supplies, purchasing, production, and manufacturing teams to support design intent, component selection, and integration
  • Identify, evaluate, and engage with new vendors to explore cutting-edge components and technologies that enhance our systems
  • Assess and present new equipment and technology relevant to the mobile equipment industry
  • Participate in or lead efforts in process improvement & Lean Practices to enhance engineering and manufacturing processes
  • Promote and practice lean manufacturing principles, including maintaining a 5S workspace. Mentor junior engineers and co-op students, offering technical guidance and professional development support
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Technologist Diploma, preferably Mechanical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • At 5-8 years of work-related experience
  • Experience in leading projects with a cross-functional team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of CAD design, Schematic/PCB or software development tools
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Systems for the mobile equipment industry
