DevOur client is a leading Canadian cost consultancy and risk advisory firm operating within the P3, infrastructure, and construction market. They have immediate openings for a Mechanical & Electrical (MEP) Cost Consultant to join their growing teams across Canada. Salary range: $130,000-$180,000. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with their client on this full-time, permanent role.
The Mechanical/Electrical Cost Consultant will report to an Associate Director and will assist in service delivery from start to end, ensuring client objectives are met through effective service provision.
Education and Experience
- +5 years of relevant experience
- A recognized university degree
- Membership in relevant professional organizations
Skills and Qualifications
- Manage commissions to meet quality standards, efficiently and on time
- Deliver services in line with appointment conditions
- Develop strong client and team relationships
- Work effectively within a team on specific commissions
- Discharge general line management responsibilities effectively
- Identify business development opportunities, including cross-selling
- Track margin levels and monthly forecasts
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Mechanical/Electrical Cost Management reports for all asset classes across Canada
- Interface with clients and consultants at all project stages
- Assist in research on construction market conditions and analyze published data
- Support in developing new business opportunities
- Contribute to proposals for new work or project variations
- Participate in client and business development events
- Identify improvements in cost management procedures and tools
- Manage knowledge input and process improvements
- Ensure quality control and participate in ISO audits
- Prepare construction cost estimates at all design stages
- Manage estimating and cost planning activities, including presenting final cost plans
- Apply value management techniques and involve client's specialists as appropriate
- Oversee post-contract cost management, including variance analysis and change control
- Produce and present monthly post-contract cost reports
- Participate in value engineering, LEED analysis, and life cycle costing
- Lead cost management teams and ensure delivery of responsibilities
- Negotiate and finalize accounts
- Prepare and quantify cost plan reports, including detailed quantities and pricing
- Mentor junior and intermediate staff
- Contribute to staff management and recruitment processes
