About the Opportunity
Join our expanding "Make It Happen" team at Homestar! We are seeking a Mechanic / Automotive Service Technician to maintain, repair, and service our fleet vehicles, equipment, and small engines to ensure maximum safety, efficiency, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on company vehicles, equipment, and small engines.
- Change, balance, and repair tires.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and fuel-related issues.
- Conduct motor vehicle inspections and ensure registrations remain current.
- Perform routine engine maintenance (lubrication, spark plugs, fluids, etc.).
- Repair or replace worn, defective, or broken components.
- Reassemble and reinstall engines and equipment following repairs.
- Service and repair outdoor power equipment (lawnmowers, trimmers, tractors, generators, etc.).
- Schedule and monitor vehicle readiness, cleanliness, and availability.
- Track maintenance intervals and create schedules for vehicles, small tools, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and transportation regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, test results, and parts usage.
- Support fleet management by reporting expenses, performance metrics, and inspection outcomes.
Qualifications
- Licensed Mechanic / Automotive Service Technician (Red Seal preferred).
- 1 year + of proven hands-on experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance/repair preferred.
- Licensed to perform motor vehicle inspections.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills (mechanical, electrical, and fuel systems).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Current/valid driver’s license and clean Driver’s Abstract.
- Punctual, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Self-motivated and diligent with a “make it happen” attitude.
