Job Information

Job Title: ScaleOperator – Hamilton, ON

Status: Fixed-term contract of 3 months

Expected Start date: As soon as possible

Location: 180 Pier 24 Gateway, Hamilton ON L8H 0A3

Shift information: Night shift; 11pm to 8am

Reporting to: Facility Manager

Starting at 22$/h

Responsibilities
  • Perform operating sequences to receive and exit vehicles through incoming and outgoing scales.
  • Assist in checking all components of the weigh scale system to ascertain all are in working order.
  • Maintain a control environment in the scale house to ensure proper operation of the computerized scale system.
  • Issue receipts to vehicle drivers and collect tickets of raw material.
  • Answer phone; record messages and provide routine information.
  • Use computer MS Suite such as spreadsheets, Word, calendar, e‑mail and other databases.
  • Be responsible for shipping out items and entering the products coming into the system.
  • May perform incidental tasks, as needed.
  • Screen and record incoming loads at the scale house.
  • Direct vehicles entering and leaving the facility.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures and policies established by the company.
  • Maintain day‑to‑day operation and administrative duties associated with operation of the scale, operate the weigh scales, scale computer and software programs, data entry, and record keeping.
Qualifications & Skills
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work in small team(s) and independently.
  • A reliable method of transportation to and from work in a timely manner (limited or no public transit).
  • Excellent oral and written communication paired with exceptional customer service skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • A good sense of humor will also be a great asset.
