Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate construction activities on-site, ensuring project specifications and timelines are met.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers to develop construction plans, schedules, and budgets that align with project objectives and client requirements.
- Plan Review: Analyze project plans, specifications, and schedules to thoroughly understand project requirements.
- On-Site Management: Oversee daily activities including excavation, grading, compaction, and erosion control, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Resource Allocation: Manage labor, equipment, and materials efficiently to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Operational Guidance: Provide clear instruction and support to the team to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to established procedures.
- Safety Enforcement: Implement and enforce safety protocols, conduct regular safety inspections, and address safety issues promptly to maintain a safe work environment.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor progress and conduct inspections to ensure workmanship meets or exceeds project requirements.
- Technology Utilization: Outlook, Excel, Site Docs, other construction management software such as Bluebeam is an asset.
- Training & Mentorship: Develop team members through training on construction techniques and safety protocols, promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on project progress, challenges, and solutions for management review.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Company policies, OH & S Legislation, and WCB reporting procedures.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of earthworks construction experience with proven experience in earthworks supervision.
- Project Management: Ability to manage constantly shifting project scopes and resources, including large and small scopes simultaneously.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to engage and instruct a diverse workforce, including making on-the-fly adjustments to meet evolving project needs.
- Adaptability: Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to new tasks and reallocate resources as needed to maintain project momentum.
- Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of equipment operations across a variety of tasks and terrains, offering clear, practical instructions grounded in industry best practices.
- Leadership Skills: Positive, approachable demeanor with strong leadership, time management, and people management skills, focused on motivating and guiding the team to success.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of OH & S Legislation and WCB reporting procedures.
