The Position
The Marketing Manager will be the hands-on lead responsible for creating compelling written and visual content that resonates with architects, engineers, designers, and construction professionals while also ensuring BAUCO’s brand is consistently represented across all channels. Working alongside the Manager of Sales and Business Development and reporting to the General Manager, the Marketing Manager will manage and implement a comprehensive marketing communications (MarCom) plan that includes owned, earned, and paid media tactics. He or she will report marketing communications metrics to the company’s leadership team on a monthly basis, and manage and mentor the Marketing Coordinator.
Responsibilities
Research 10%
- Monitor and research current and emerging markets
- Research attitudes and unmet needs of BAUCO’s target audiences
- Research and understand construction project workflows, specifications, and the technical language used by our AEC audience
- Remain informed and engaged with evolving marketing trends, AI, and media landscape
Strategic Planning 10%
- Track marketing results using QR codes, Google Analytics, and other metrics, and regularly analyze and report on same.
- Track marketing results and adjust content strategy to ensure resonance with architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Monitor and update BAUCO’s MarCom plan as needed
- Work with the sales and business development team and customer service staff on additional strategies and campaigns as needed
Project Management 40%
- Implement the MarCom plan to support BAUCO’S overall business strategy and objectives.
- Actively produce and review content, including web pages, newsletters, technical product guides and social media posts for accuracy, clarity, and appeal to the AEC audience.
- Provide direction to the Marketing Coordinator and oversee that person’s deliverables
- Coordinate strategic and creative inputs with external suppliers for web development, graphic design, SEO, digital advertising, lead generation, directories, packaging, signage, and tradeshows
- Perform other marketing tasks as needed, such as facilitating meetings, organizing photo shoots, issuing news releases, event planning, selecting promotional materials
Content Development 40%
- Write, review, and edit clear, engaging and technically accurate content for architects, engineers, contractors, and designers across all channels including website, print media, social media, newsletter e-blasts, Google ads, and SEO.
- Translate technical product specifications into accessible, solution-oriented content for different stages of the AEC project lifecycle.
- Write, review, edit, and enhance client communications as needed, such as followup emails, letters, phone scripts, product instructions
- Protect and differentiate the brand with consistent messaging to all target audiences
- Develop story boards to enhance training and marketing videos for product users and staff
- Ensure that internal materials are consistent, user friendly, and visually appealing
- Work collaboratively with interdepartmental teams to develop, implement, and distribute materials that convey company policies and procedures, consistent with marketing communications strategies
Essential Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with demonstrated ability to produce content for architects, engineers, designers, and construction professionals. Photography and basic video production skills are a plus.
- Excellent technical skills, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Mail Chimp, and WordPress; basic HTML an asset
- Excellent organizational skills and priority management
- Deep understanding of the digital marketing communications landscape, including SEO and Google Analytics
- Self-starter who is happy to provide a first draft, seek feedback, and reiterate as needed
- Sound judgment to drive communications initiatives with excellent skills in stakeholder management, networking, and relationship-building
- Ability to work within teams and existing structures
- Comprehensive market research skills
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Marketing, or equivalent combination of training programs in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, Technical Writing, and Public Relations
- Accreditation in Communication Management (CMP) or Canadian Public Relations (CPR) would be an asset
- Certification in SEO, Google Analytics, or html would be an asset
Experience
- 6+ years in a marketing position, ideally B2B, with a track record of generating effective and engaging communication products
- Experience managing a marketing colleague or team
- Experience writing, editing, and producing marketing content for B2B audiences, ideally within the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.
