Job description
Position Overview

Supply Chain (Material Management) refers to the distribution channel of a product, from sourcing, to delivery, to the end consumer. Managing the chain of events within this process is known as Supply Chain Management. Effective management must coordinate all the different pieces of this chain as quickly as possible without losing any of the quality or customer satisfaction, while still keeping costs down. The first step is determining a need, followed by sourcing, ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of products and supplies to the end user. Customer satisfaction is paramount. A necessity in coordinating all these activities is the information service network. Under the general direction of the Director, Provincial Distribution & Logistics, the Manager, Material Management is an integral member of the Management Team. The Manager, Material Management assumes overall responsibility for the day-to-day provision of site-specific Materiel Management services. The Manager is the focal point within the site, is responsible for all functions provided by Distribution & Logistics, and is responsible for the management of on-site Material Management staff. The Manager assumes Regional responsibilities as appropriate and assigned by the Director.

Experience
  • Five years comprehensive Materiel Management experience in a health care or related setting, with three years in a middle management position.
  • Extensive experience with supply chain related key performance measures and executive reporting.
  • Experience with Lean Principles considered an asset.
  • Experience with SAP ERP system preferred.
  • Must have or be able to acquire within a reasonable period of time a thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and regulations applicable to the area of supervision.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in health services, business, public administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred SCMA, APICS or Plog designations.

  • Demonstrated poise, aptitude for communicating professional information, and ability to deal with matters of an urgent or emergent nature.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.

  • Ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with other individuals in superior, peer, subordinate and client positions.

  • Demonstrated commitment to optimizing the contribution that Materiel Management can make to the care of individual patients and to the health care system as a whole.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 10 kg.
  • Interruptions to respond to questions are common; dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled.
  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the province.
