Reporting to the director, the manager works with the DI Medical Department head for the zone to facilitate the daily administrative and clinical operations of the department and ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and efficient diagnostic imaging services. The manager works in collaboration with other managers and staff to develop and implement policies and procedures which are congruent with the program and overall corporate plan of Nova Scotia Health. The manager is accountable for the efficient and effective operation of assigned areas of responsibility including general imaging services at the Halifax Infirmary, (providing trauma services to various parts of the province) Victoria General Hospital, the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre, Bayers Lake Community Outpatients Centre, and Hants Community Hospital. General imaging services are provided 7days/week, 24/7 either by on-site technologists or on an on- call service. All sites are multi-disciplinary in nature and include technologists, technical assistants and imaging attendants. The manager is also responsible for the coordination of the clinical program for the General Imaging Department with respect to quality and fiscal accountability. The manager works in a co-leadership relationship with the designated service chief / chief radiologist for assigned areas / facilities. As part of their education lead role, the manager will develop and facilitate educational support for central zone staff. They will work with various groups, including Quality, to ensure learning needs are identified and addressed and staff are meeting their required learning.
