Job Responsibilities

The Manager, Client Accounting is responsible for leading a Client Accounting team consisting of 7‑8 associates (property accountants). The Manager, Client Accounting will also support the Director, Client Accounting in meeting the various objectives of the Client Accounting Department and projects. Planning, organizing, directing, and controlling daily operations are part of the daily tasks of the Manager, Client Accounting. This is a fast‑paced environment and it is essential the Manager, Client Accounting have excellent time management and organization skills. We are looking for a true professional; someone who has demonstrated the ability to build and manage effective teams through training, assessment, empowerment, and constructive feedback.

Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership
  • Lead a Client Accounting team of 7‑8 associates to ensure timely and accurate preparation of client financial statements
  • Build and maintain a culture of service excellence, with a focus on responsiveness and accuracy
Client Accounting
  • Build an efficient and scalable team structure that leverages technology
  • Ensure that all deadlines are met in relation to monthly and annual financial statements, budgets and audits
  • Be a financial knowledge and thought leader, providing: i) training to new condo managers and directors as appropriate and ii) sound financial analysis and advice to client. Be the face of client accounting for clients and staff.
  • Support and drive client budgeting process in partnership with the management team
  • Attend client board meetings as required
  • Lead and support onboarding of new clients to support client retention
  • Review monthly client financials and budgets on a rotating basis with priority given to "watchlist" clients
  • Management of "watchlist" clients in conjunction with the Director, Client Accounting
  • Maintain an ongoing awareness of the regulatory environment and issues that could affect our business model
  • Maintain strong control environment and be open to process change, evaluating opportunities for continuous improvement
Finance Transformation
  • Support the Director, Client Accounting in the timely and effective delivery of improvement initiatives and projects
  • Responsible for the maintenance and enforcement of accounting policy and procedure manuals, including relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Education & Experience
  • Accounting degree/diploma
  • Accounting designation (or working towards) (CPA) is preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in an accounting department
  • Ideally 3+ years of management/supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies
  • Full cycle accounting, including variance analysis, GL analysis, and timely completion of reporting packages
  • Coordination of annual financial statement audits and budgets
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • A well‑organized team player who works with a sense of urgency
  • Passionate about customer satisfaction
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
  • Skilled in conducting hand‑on training, and informal coaching for direct reports
  • Proficiency in analyzing and organizing data in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Yardi
Compensation

Compensation for this role is between $80,000 - $90,000 + benefits.
