A prominent healthcare institution in Ontario seeks a Maintenance Trade 2 employee. The role involves responsibility for minor hospital equipment maintenance, requiring five years of experience in institutional maintenance. Candidates should possess a mechanical aptitude and good communication skills. This is a full-time position with a Monday to Friday schedule.

As part of Hamilton Health Sciences Engineering Department is an integral part of the support services, providing facilities maintenance services to all buildings, wards and departments. (General, JHCC, JCC, St. Peters, WLMH and McMaster Children’s Hospital sites.) The Engineering staff is comprised of numerous and varied trades, including Stationary Engineers in the power plant, Electricians, Plumbers, Millwrights, Carpenters, Painters, etc. all contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the facilities. The department’s goals can best be summarized as SERVICE EXCELLENCE.
The Maintenance Trade 2 employee is responsible for minor hospital equipment, controls, and systems related to heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, instrumentation, plumbing and building systems. The Maintenance II employee performs the day-to-day system and operational inspections; testing and checks; repairs; cleans; lubricates and performs preventive maintenance; assembly and disassembles; installation; fabrication; modifications; renovations; performs environmental checks; measurements and calculations for the building environment and on all minor hospital equipment, controls and systems; develops and / or updates all applicable records, drawings and schematics for equipment, controls and systems; makes minor repairs to hospital infrastructure (eg. dry wall patching); performs all duties in strict compliance with all policies and procedures, applicable legislation, codes, standards, rules and regulations (including, but not limited to, the Occupational Health & Safety Act); assists the Development Team and Contractors; attends and participates in meetings, professional development training and all hospital and departmental orientation programs as assigned.
