Job description

The J.D. Irving Sawmills Division is currently seeking a motivated individual to join our South Bay Chip Plant team in Saint John, NB as an Maintenance Supervisor

Qualifications
  • Education Required:
    • Trade Certification or Associate’s Degree in a related technical field
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Mechanical knowledge is required
  • Hands on experience with predictive and preventive maintenance practices;
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing and maintaining reliability improvement initiatives;
  • Project management and prioritization skills is required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and JD Edwards E1 are an asset
  • Advanced computer skills and working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems;
  • Exposure to a manufacturing facility would be an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate team members;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills;
  • Valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract are essential
  • Lean Six Sigma training is an asset
Responsibilities
  • Drive a Health & Safety culture and ensure policies and procedures are followed, and accident investigations conducted;
  • Supervise Industrial Mechanics and outside contractors on repairs, ongoing improvements, and unplanned downtime;
  • Lead improvement of Maintenance Best Practices and plant operating practices;
  • Develop a culture of Continuous Improvement;
  • Data collection and analysis, including financial analysis of potential and active projects;
  • Ensuring projects are in control and measuring savings;
  • Monitor, track and enhance current equipment availability;
  • Training and development of apprentices;
  • Coach maintenance team on JDI values and work assignments;
