Job summary

A leading oil and gas company is seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer/Specialist for their Fort Hills site in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience with Mine Mobile equipment and hold a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Responsibilities include providing technical guidance and developing repair scopes to enhance equipment reliability. Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience in Mine Mobile equipment or automotive.
  • Registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support.
  • Develop technical repair scopes.
  • Support site improvement opportunities to increase asset performance.
  • Identify and resolve threats to equipment availability.
  • Perform failure analysis and incident investigations.
  • Assist with shop tooling solutions.

Are you a Mechanical Reliability Engineer/Specialist looking for an exciting new opportunity? We're recruiting a Reliability Engineer/Specialist at our Fort Hills site.

As a member of our Fort Hills Mine Mobile Reliability Engineering team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving safety & reliability on Mine mobile equipment that enable business units to operate safely and reliably.

Minimum Requirements
  • 8 years of experience in Mine Mobile equipment or automotive
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or Heavy Equipment Technician certification.
  • Registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Well-developed critical thinking, with an ability to apply logic and challenge assumptions
  • Demonstrates a zero‑tolerance approach to shortcuts and takes initiative to correct any identified procedural errors.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance, solutions and troubleshooting support to our Mine mobile maintenance and operations stakeholders.
  • Develop technical repair scopes to support the mine maintenance organization
  • Support and drive site improvements opportunities to increase asset performance and availability.
  • Identify and resolve threats to availability within the mine mobile equipment fleet
  • Review fleet key performance indicators to gauge performance and opportunities
  • Perform both failure analysis and incident investigations to drive learnings and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Assist Maintenance organization with shop tooling solutions
  • Steward cross-boundary relationships with our mine maintenance and operation teams
  • Use root cause analysis methods for asset and process failure elimination
Location and other Key Details
  • The shift schedule is a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation; 12 hour shifts
  • You will work out of our Fort Hills site office North of Fort McMurray, Alberta on a FIFO (Fly-in Fly-out) from Calgary or Edmonton or BIBO (Bus-in-Bus-out) for Fort McMurray residents.
  • This position is safety sensitive
