Position Summary

Utilize your leadership, organization and problem‑solving skills while overseeing the day‑to‑day clinical operations at The Rotary Manor. Within the context of a client‑ and family‑centered model of care and in accordance with the mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff. Reporting to the Manager or designate, the LPN Coordinator is responsible for providing first‑line supervision to LPN nursing staff and unregulated care staff and providing nursing care to an assigned group of residents/patients/clients according to established policies and procedures and the Standards of Practice for the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). The LPN Coordinator coordinates the work of the LPN and unregulated care staff on the unit(s) including making and adjusting work assignments, providing work direction, scheduling staff, monitoring and following up on the work of staff to ensure outcomes of care are achieved and ongoing evaluation of staff work.

Shift Rotation / Hours of Work

Days, Evenings – 08:00 to 19:00; 13:00 to 21:00; rotating.

The Rotary Manor Complex

The complex consists of two buildings: the main area and a three‑story tower joined by a glassed walkway. All areas are bright with plenty of natural light and pleasant décor. The facility offers 115 publicly subsidized beds, two private respite rooms, and two private palliative rooms. It operates an active recreation department with day and evening activities for residents, children in the Grand Buddy programme, singers, musicians, church groups, and more. The Adult Day Away Programme integrates some of these activities with the facility recreation programme.

Dawson Creek

Dawson Creek is a small provincial city often called the Mile Zero City, the start of the Alaska Highway. With a population of approximately 12,500 and serving a larger regional population of 60,000, the city hosts eleven elementary schools, one middle school, a secondary school, and Northern Lights College for adult education.

Qualfications
  • Graduation from an approved school in Practical Nursing.
  • Two (2) years' recent, related clinical and/or supervisory experience in a community health setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current practising registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for business‑related purposes.

  • Ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff, and members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written, and computer communication means.
  • Ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data from multiple sources to problem‑solve effectively.
  • Ability to promote client‑focused care that is sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, advocates for clients and significant others, and addresses social justice concerns.
  • Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well‑being.
  • Manages time and resources, implementing activities to promote cooperation among relevant others, collaboration across disciplines, and related activities.
  • Promotes staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness, risk‑taking, creative planning for change and innovation, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development.
  • Uses factual information, prior learning, and basic principles and procedures to support decisions with evidence‑based research and best practice integration.
  • Ability to operate relevant equipment, including relevant computer applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
