Job description

Licensed Practical Nurse on a 21-bed surgery inpatient ward. Nursing staff on 5 East provide safe and compassionate care for patient populations including urology, gynecology, plastics and general surgery, and also low intensity orthopedic surgery and medicine off-service patients. Opportunity to work in a fast-paced team, environment performing a wide variety of nursing assessments, interventions and evaluations. PLEASE NOTE: This posting is scheduled to close at 23:59 of the posting end date but may be filled earlier under LOU #20 if a regular employee of the same classification who holds a regular position within this unit expresses their interest in this vacancy by 23:59 on the 5th calendar day following the posting date. Description:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

Additional Required Qualifications: At least one year of recent (within the last two years) acute, inpatient surgery or orthopedic surgery required.

Excellent assessment and organizational skills. Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter training and experience. Negative pressure wound therapy education as asset.
