Company Description

VanDriel Excavating strives to be the contractor of choice through Quality, Excellence and Teamwork in Excavation and Civil construction. We have open position for Heavy Duty Mechanic in heavy civil and bridge construction on municipal and commercial projects.

Role Description
  • Maintain and manage a daily record of repairs and services to vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain yearly service reqirements for fleet.
  • Assist and complete daily repairs.
  • Ensure adequate maintenance of tools, equipment and other materials in the workshop.
  • Knowledge in diagnosing electrical systems.
  • Diagnosing malfunctions and testing passenger vehicles and heavy equipment to determine mechanical issues.
  • Adjusting equipment and repairing or replacing defective parts.
  • Cleaning, lubricating and performing other preventive maintenance work.
  • Repairing and verifying any emission control systems.
  • Working with specialized machinery.
  • Understanding the inner workings of various machines, such as bulldozers, cranes, graders, farming equipment, heavy trucks, excavators, and passenger vehicles.
  • Keep track of work performed with accurate records.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and tools.
  • Abide by safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be willing to work with a positive attitude towards your co-workers and with the company's best interest in mind.
  • Assist in maintaining a parts inventory.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, not limited to the above.
Qualifications
  • 310T, 310S or equivalent experience desired.
  • Heavy Equipment Experience would be an asset.
  • Dependable work attendance.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work as a part of a team.
  • Experience in the construction industry with a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Safety minded.
  • Adheres to ethical work habits.
  • Good attitude and willingness to follow directions.
  • Be able to work 40 hours/week as a minimum.
  • Be able to work Saturdays as required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
