About the Role

The Elgin Library has a contract position available for a Summer Student. The program, made possible by financial assistance from the Government of Canada through the Young Canada Works in Heritage Institutions Program, as well as the County of Elgin, entails the following:

  • Summarizing data for approximately 8,300 library items that were reviewed and evaluated as part of an ongoing diversity audit;
  • Collection Development Policy review and application to the library’s collection;
  • Collection review activities utilizing the library’s integrated library system.
Qualifications
  • Proof of enrollment in post-secondary education in library and information science or related discipline.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with integrated library systems and previous experience in a public library setting is an asset.
  • Must be between 15-30 years of age and returning to school in Fall 2026 to meet funding approval.
