The Town of Acton is seeking applicants for two open non‑benefitted Library Assistant I positions at the Acton Memorial Library. These positions are 15 hours per week and will report to the Head of Patron Services. Interviews will begin in early January.
In this role, the candidate will perform the duties of the Patron Services Department, which include shelving, shelf‑reading, checking materials in and out, issuing library cards, answering phone calls, assisting in programs, and other related tasks. The department is a collaborative team of about ten staff members who value clear communication and a positive, supportive work environment.
The work schedule varies with departmental need. It includes one night a week, one Saturday every three weeks (required), and one Sunday every three weeks from early October through mid‑June at time and a half. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by program and service schedules is also needed.
