Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for a practical, results-focused lawyer to join the legal department of a growing company in the important real estate development sector, building and operating purpose-built rentals from dirt to door. In this role, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to build a legal career in an important and growing real‑estate space while helping to deliver the housing that Canadians need.

Your contributions to the team include:

  • Provide accurate, timely and practical legal advice to all departments within the organization
  • Manage external litigation counsel in all areas of litigation including construction and personal injury
  • Draft and review litigation documents including notices of civil claim and responses to civil claim
  • Work closely with other members of the legal team
  • Draft legal agreements and other legal documents
  • Manage risk as a facilitator of business operations
  • Actively participate in building and maintaining our positive office environment

What you need to be successful:

  • LLB/JD or equivalent
  • Minimum two years post-call experience
  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of Manitoba or ability to transfer from other provincial law society
  • Preference for experience in corporate commercial, construction, litigation
  • Critical thinker who takes a practical approach to problem‑solving
  • Ability to manage multiple work assignments and competing priorities under tight timelines
  • Team player, but with the ability to work independently when required with minimum supervision and a high degree of personal initiative
